When I was eight years old, my family emigrated to the United States from Romania, and then I attended high school in Spain for four years. Learning Spanish led me to become a bilingual teacher with LAUSD where I have taught elementary school for the past twenty-four years; it also provided me with the opportunity to meet my wife, who is a teacher and comes from a Mexican heritage.
Cuando tenía ocho años, mi familia emigró a Estados Unidos desde Rumanía, y luego asistí a la escuela secundaria en España durante cuatro años. Aprender español me llevó a convertirme en maestro bilingüe en LAUSD, donde he enseñado en la escuela primaria durante los últimos veinticuatro años; también me brindó la oportunidad de conocer a mi esposa, quien es maestra y tiene ascendencia mexicana.
